The Robotics Team!
Here is the pictures of the kids, they were just interviewed by sun news and also video taped by one of the colleges here....
This is the kids getting ready to load up, we leave every day at 3:15 for the hour trip to the Art and Science Academy as thier school does not have the equipment for them to compete.
They work on the robot until 7:30 pm when I pick them up again.
Going into the school here and waiting for the teacher to come unlock the doors to the shop.
The Robot has to be able to compete by playing basketball against other robots...last year the kids placed although we only had gas money for them to work on the robot 2 times a week, this year thanks to the internet checks we have made it every day,6 days a week. Today they spent 12 hours on the robot , the kids are very hopeful to have a great robot.
The kids had to come up with a name for the team.They called the team the robo hobos and he is dressed in poor clothes and duck tape. This year the kids and I gathered branches and duck taped a christmas tree together...we pretty much do everything here with a roll of tape........Well, I for one hope they do well as they don't have a lot to work with but they are very motivated children. They only have one extra clamp if the wires come loose so this weekend we are going to Lowes...it is only a few dollars and 60.00 a week in gas that helps them do this.....thanks for your support and thank-you FanBox! Without the opportunity to earn here these kids would have no transportation.
